Categories are the bedrock of any budget. They should allow you to track your spending in a way that makes sense to you. Every budget will be different, so please add, remove, and change any categories that you like!

Some examples you might consider:

  • Groceries
  • Restaurants
  • Subscriptions
  • Specific utilities

Some people prefer to give every monthly bill its own category. Others might decide to lump all or most of them together into one category. In the end, it’s up to you to decide!


Step-by-step Instructions

Add a new category by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Budget tab.
  2. Scroll to the very bottom of the budget.
  3. Click the button that says “+ Add Category”.
  4. Enter the desired information about your category.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Go back to your Budget and verify that your new category appears in the list.
